The neighbourhood

⭐ ACTIVITIES/ATTRACTIONS ⭐
You are not just near the Yasawa Islands – you are in the middle of them, on your own 75 acre drop of jungle and reef at the northern tip of the chain. Billion dollar yachts and future seven star resorts are beginning to use this coastline as their playground, but Vawa remains one of the few true private islands, with nothing but sea and sky on all sides.
Distances below are approximate and based on boat travel from Vawa within roughly 20 miles (30–60 minutes by boat), depending on route and conditions.

▪️ Sawa-i-Lau Caves – approx 15–20 miles
Limestone swimming caves with luminous saltwater pools, featured in “The Blue Lagoon” and considered a must see in the northern Yasawas. Guided half day trips can be arranged from the island.
▪️ Blue Lagoon & Nanuya Lailai – approx 15–20 miles
Classic turquoise lagoon and sand beaches with hiking trails and viewpoints over the Yasawa group. Great for day trips that mix snorkelling, swimming and a village style lunch.
▪️ Yasawa Island Beaches & Resort Spa – approx 10–20 miles
Explore some of Fiji’s most photographed white sand beaches on neighbouring Yasawa Island, or arrange a spa day or cocktail stop at Yasawa Island Resort & Spa, a high end hideaway set on its own stretch of coast.
▪️ Manta Ray Passage (Drawaqa–Naviti channel) – approx 25–30 miles
Between April and October, manta rays gather to feed in a narrow channel between Drawaqa and Naviti Islands. Boat trips can be arranged to snorkel with these gentle giants in the wild.
On nights when skies are clear, one of the best “attractions” is simply lying on the beach at Vawa and watching the Milky Way arch overhead with no light pollution at all.

Pet owners are responsible for any extra cleaning fees or damages.Ensure that they are well-behaved and that you take necessary precautions to prevent any damage and extra cleaning. Pet/Service Animal owners will be responsible for any extra cleaning fees or damages caused.
▪️ No smoking inside the home. Outdoor smoking is permitted away from open doors and windows; please dispose of cigarette butts responsibly.
▪️ No unauthorized parties, events, or large gatherings. Special events (such as elopements, productions or retreats) must be approved in writing and may involve additional fees and contracts.
▪️ Please observe quiet enjoyment of the island after 10PM out of respect for staff staying in the back of island quarters.
▪️ Respect the home. Do not move heavy furniture, and please avoid tracking sand and volcanic soil onto the light coloured sofas and rugs.
▪️ Because the pool, rock pools and ocean are unfenced, all children must be actively supervised at all times when outdoors or near any body of water. Never swim alone.
▪️ Do not flush anything down the toilet to avoid plumbing issues.
▪️ Follow the check-in/check-out instructions. Guests will be held responsible for any issues that arise from not adhering to these instructions.

Other things to note

▪️ We use ChargeAutomation to provide a secure guest portal, which can be shared with your group and adds an extra layer of verification to prevent fraudulent bookings. You'll receive this link after your booking is confirmed.
▪️ We hold a security deposit during your stay, which will be fully refunded after check-out, provided there are no damages to the property.
▪️ Please take a moment to read our House Rules in the House Rules section.
▪️ The villa is set up for a comfortable maximum of 12 guests. Standard minimum stay is 5 nights. Shorter 3 night stays may sometimes be possible at higher nightly rates, particularly for guests already in the region. Because the island is remote and fully reset between stays (including filling the pool and provisioning food), we generally require 4–5 days lead time between booking and arrival to prepare the island properly.
▪️ We offer options for early check-in and late check-out, subject to availability and fees.
▪️ There are several exterior security cameras and a fire/safety system used when the island is vacant. All cameras are disabled for guest privacy during your stay unless you specifically request otherwise. There are no active cameras inside the house.
▪️ Vawa offers excellent snorkelling off the beaches and within large rock pools on the northern side of the island. Please be aware the ocean, rock pools and swimming pool are not fenced. As with any unsupervised bodies of water, never swim solo – always swim with a buddy or with someone watching nearby. A member of the Vawa team is always happy to supervise from the boat if you are swimming around the island.
▪️ There is a nurse station on the nearby island, emergency helicopter evacuation numbers and fast boats that can reach the mainland in approximately two hours if needed. Please note that while Vawa is remote, appropriate emergency pathways are in place, and guests are expected to act sensibly around cliffs, rocks and palm trees.
▪️ From November through April there is a higher likelihood of tropical downpours or storms in the South Pacific. Cyclone season tends to be around December, January and February, though significant storms are infrequent. From June to October the weather is typically more stable and less prone to heavy rain.
▪️ Staff handle all trash separation and disposal. The island practices composting, recycling and careful management of waste, and guests are encouraged to assist by using the appropriate bins where provided.
▪️ Vawa is home to one very friendly former stray dog from the mainland named Ricardo Montalban. He sometimes likes to escort guests on walks or excursions and loves catching crabs in the rock pools at low tide. Staff feed him at the quarters, so he does not live off guest food – though he will always appreciate a scratch and being told he is a good boy.
▪️ Expect a meet and greet with champagne/cocktail and snacks on arrival at the island. Stays include complimentary WiFi and TV streaming services (occasionally affected by weather), plus all non-motorised sports such as stand up paddleboards, snorkelling gear and kayaks.
▪️ Additional Experiences & Transport (fees apply):
- Return island transfers from Nadi / Suva via seaplane, helicopter, Yasawa catamaran (“Flyer”) plus private island boat pickup (baggage limits apply).
- Scuba diving and snorkel safaris.
- Diving or snorkeling with manta rays (seasonal).
- Surfing trips to nearby reef breaks.
- Fishing charters.
- Boat charters and heli tours.
